Cohort analysis for tuberculosis notification by latent tuberculosis infection at twenty three high schools in A city, 2012
Cho Kyung-Sook

Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate TB (tuberculosis) incidence by LTBI (latent tuberculosis infection) through a cohort that was established after TB outbreaks in A city in 2012, Korea.

Methods: Data were retrieved from notified new TB cases through the Integrated Disease and Health Control System (IDHCS) from the year 2001-2017 and contact investigation forms from 34,041 students at twenty three high schools in A city during the year 2012. Chi-square test and multiple regression analysis were conducted.

Results: The rate of notified new TB cases aged 16-19 years A city was higher than that of entire nation. The rate of positive LTBI was 4.6% showing significant differences by grade and area. Using multiple logistic regression analysis, LTBIs were found to be significantly related to TB incidence from 2012-2017.

Conclusions: The findings imply that LTBI treatment of TB contacts can be important to prevent TB incidence in the future, and contact investigations may serve as an effective tool for preventing TB incidence.
